A Gentleman Never Stops Doing His Best Just Because Someone Doesn’t Give Him Credit

Do your best for YOU, not for anyone else. You don’t need to impress anyone. You don’t need approval from anyone. You don’t need credit from anyone. You don’t need to stop doing your best.

Although, it’s nice receiving credit, it shouldn’t be necessary and more importantly, it shouldn’t be the reason why you’re trying to do your best.

I remember having this conversation with my 8-year-old nephew and he was telling me about his baseball tryouts (to spread out the talent instead of potentially having all the good players on one team). He was telling me he wasn’t trying his best because he wanted to be on the same team as his friends.

I understood where he was coming from because who doesn’t want to be on the same team as their friends but I had to remind him that he should never stop doing his best.

When it comes down to it, doing your best and constantly working on bettering yourself is for you, not anyone else.

I mean, will you stop holding the door for people if they don’t say “thank you”? I hope not.

Also, know the difference between not receiving credit and someone simply taking credit for your work.
